Susan Sentell is the president and CEO of The Sentell Group, LLC, an advisory firm that provides executive consulting in general management and strategy execution. She advises boards, chief executive officers and presidents on a variety of strategic and operational issues and mentors senior executives as they take on broader management responsibilities. Susan is an accomplished CEO, president and board director with 25 years of Fortune 100, mid-sized and entrepreneurial company experience. She is known for her natural ability to see the big picture, frame issues, initiate action and deliver results.
As a president of Sprint Business, an $8 billion operating division of Sprint Corporation, Susan led a significant business model transformation while expanding market share. Despite a highly competitive business climate that was driving 10 percent annual price declines, the division delivered over $1 billion in annual top-line growth and double-digit margin growth. Over the course of her 14-year career at Sprint, Susan honed her general management expertise in senior management roles leading organizations in diverse functional areas such as sales, market development, marketing communications, operations and product management.
Translating her large-company experience to an entrepreneurial environment, as CEO and president of EMS, Inc., a privately held mid-sized business services company, Susan led the strategic and operational transformation of the company to an enterprise software provider.
Susan has served on corporate boards for organizations with revenues ranging from $18 million to $1 billion in private, family-owned and national non-profit sectors. Her experience crosses a wide range of industries including business services, telecommunications, consumer products, software, healthcare and packaged goods.
Susan currently serves on the boards of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Gladson Interactive, and Miami University School of Business. She is a Young Presidents’ Organization alumnus and a member of World Presidents Organization (WPO) and The Committee of 200. She lives in Lake Forest, Illinois, and is active in her community, mentoring small-business owners and serving on local boards.
